The Gilfillan massacre (2nd of 2)

In 1888, more than 40 years after the event, John Gilfillan’s daughter wrote in the Wanganui Herald about the terror of the raid on her family’s home. She explained the circumstances that led to the four deaths, and to the survival of her father and other family members.
