Blackball socialist group

Blackball socialist group

Although unions had long been associated with major mines and other industries, they were mainly concerned with local working conditions. In the early 1900s a broader discussion of social and political issues began in small socialist groups, such as this one in Blackball, about 1912. Standing (from left): A. Kells, T. Campbell, J. Divis (holding placard), Mrs W. Bromilow, A. Wright. Sitting: W. Bromilow, W. Rogers.
