Lowland forest near Punakaiki

This lowland conifer–beech forest is in Paparoa National Park, near Punakaiki. The Pororari River is in the right foreground. Limestone bluffs in the centre pick out a major down-fold (syncline), which is a prominent feature of the topography of the area.
