Record sunshine hours

This table shows the highest and lowest amount of sunshine at certain places over the past 150 years. In the South Island there is a striking contrast between the sheltered north (Nelson) and the south (Invercargill), which is exposed to the cloud bands pushed eastwards by winds in the roaring forties.
