Wasp warning
Introduced common wasps have reached high numbers in parts of New Zealand, particularly in beech forest. There they feed on honeydew produced by scale insects living on beech tree trunks. This road sign is in an area of beech forest where there was a risk that road construction works might disturb wasp nests.
