Signs on the Routeburn Track

Established in 1987, the Department of Conservation (DOC) oversaw tracks in national parks, forest parks and other conservation areas. It improved tracks and huts and brought in standard signage – yellow on a green background. This signpost is near Lake Howden, west of Lake Wakatipu, at the junction of three DOC tracks: the Routeburn (one of the ‘Great Walks’), the Caples and the Greenstone.
