Waingawa wood mill

In 1992 Wairarapa received much-needed new investment when the Japanese company Juken Nissho opened a wood-processing mill at Waingawa, just south of Masterton. It makes panels, laminated veneer and other building materials, and employed about 300 workers in the early 2000s.
