Lake Taupō
Lake Taupō occupies a caldera (collapse crater), formed by the Ōruanui eruption, and modified by later eruptions. Using information from a survey of the lake, this image shows the shape and depth of the lake bed. The deepest part is near Horomatangi Reefs, where there are hydrothermal vents on the lake floor.
