Waiariki Institute of Technology, established as Waiariki Polytechnic in 1977, is the region’s main tertiary education provider, with campuses at Rotorua, Taupō, Tokoroa and Whakatāne. This striking landmark is at the main campus in Rotorua. The institute is particularly strong in forestry education.
