Story: Coal and coal mining

Stockton aerial ropeway

In 1953 this aerial ropeway was built at Stockton in the Buller region to bring coal down from mines. When there was renewed demand for Buller coal in the early 2000s, the ropeway allowed production at Stockton to be expanded.
