Ngāti Pōneke dance invitation

Social occasions organised by groups such as the Ngāti Pōneke Māori Association provided a welcome for Māori new to the city, and brought Māori and Pākehā into contact. Dances were often lavish, formal affairs, as this invitation of 1950 suggests.
