Building a hut

These members of the Levin–Waiopehu Tramping Club are carrying corrugated iron for the Waiopehu hut. It was to be built on the summit of Arapaepae Ridge, on the western side of the Tararua Range. Club volunteers made many huts and tracks, especially at sites accessible from the main centres, such as the Tararua and Waitakere ranges, the Silver Peaks and Arthur’s Pass.
