Story: Te tango whenua – Māori land alienation

Māori land blocks, Taupō district.

One of the effects of the Native Land Court was that Māori land, previously held communally as a single unit, was cut up into blocks and divided among individuals. This map shows the division of blocks around the Lake Taupō area.
