Gardens, Anaura Bay

This illustration by Nancy Tichborne depicts gardens at Anaura Bay, on the East Coast of the North Island. It is based on observations of Captain James Cook, Joseph Banks and William Monkhouse, as well as a drawing by Herman Spöring. The crops in the garden were kūmara, taro, uwhi (yam) and hue (bottle gourd).
