Story: Te Āti Awa of Wellington
The design for the carved entrance to the Westpac stadium in Wellington refers to the Taranaki origins of the Wellington tribes, including Te Āti Awa. The centre piece represents Mt Taranaki. This is overlaid with three white feathers (raukura), symbolising the peaceful teachings of the prophets Te Whiti-o-Rongomai and Tohu Kākahi, who lived at the Taranaki village of Parihaka.
