Rangitihi’s children

The descendants of Īhenga and Hatupatu married into other major lines of the Te Arawa tribe, and in time they were led by Rangitihi, Tamatekapua’s great-great-grandson. This whakapapa (genealogical chart) shows Rangitihi’s seven sons and one daughter, who were collectively called Ngā Pūmanawa e Waru o te Arawa – the Eight Beating Hearts of Te Arawa.
