Āpirana Ngata gives a speech

In 1950, Ngāti Porou leader Sir Āpirana Ngata gave a whaikōrero on the Raukawa marae at Ōtaki, on the centennial of the Rangiātea Church. Whaikōrero (oratory) represents the separation of the earth and sky, to allow the sun to shine into the world. If the speaker’s words are worthy, they bring the listeners from conflict to peace and resolution.
