Story: Tall broadleaf trees
Hīnau (Elaeocarpus dentatus) is widely scattered through much of New Zealand’s lowland forest. Its wide, spreading branches often support an array of perching plants. The leaves have little pits on their undersides, where the side veins connect with the midrib.
