Northern rātā recovery

Possums are the scourge of rātā trees and can kill mature trees within three years. Much of the foliage of this northern rātā was eaten before possum control was undertaken to protect the tree. The tree began to recover when a wide metal band was attached to the trunk to prevent possums from climbing and feeding.
