Processing peaches

The largest food-processing company in New Zealand, Wattie’s, began in a four-room cottage in Hastings in September 1934. These women are preparing peaches for canning, about 1940. Wattie's later diversified into frozen food and pet food, and in 1992 became a subsidiary of the multibillion-dollar American firm Heinz.
