Edendale dairy factory, 1895 (1st of 2)
The Edendale dairy factory was the first in the country. It had been operating for 13 years at the time of this photograph. The factory cost £1,200, but the company recouped £500 when it won a government bonus offered for the first export of New Zealand cheese.
