Monitoring long-tailed bats

In 2006 a group of volunteers undertook a survey of South Canterbury’s long-tailed bats, catching them in traps and tagging them with transmitters. Their movements were then tracked, providing information on numbers and habitats. Ongoing monitoring will identify population trends and threats.
