This mural, formerly in the foyer of the Soil Bureau building at Taitā, was the work of E. Mervyn Taylor. It shows New Zealand’s first Polynesian arrivals cultivating the land. They had to adapt an agricultural tradition based on tropical conditions to a cooler climate.
