Powelliphanta shells

Auckland Museum has the largest collection of large native land snails in New Zealand, largely because of the efforts of A. W. B. Powell, who worked at the museum from 1929 to 1963. He described and named many new species. Many were later assigned to the genus Powelliphanta, named in honour of Powell. These specimens of Powelliphanta hochstetteri were collected from a number of South Island sites.
