Tourist hotels

Building hotels for tourists helped some commercial ski fields to grow. The Hermitage at Aoraki/Mt Cook and the Chateau Tongariro at Mt Ruapehu were two early examples. This poster promoting rail travel suggests both hotels as destinations for people taking part in winter sports.
