Story: Shrubs and small trees of the forest
Lowland horopito (Pseudowintera axillaris) is an understorey shrub and small tree in forests of the North Island and northern South Island. Its shiny dark green leaves grow on black twigs. Extracts from the leaves have antifungal properties.
