Story: Shows and field days
Shows in New Zealand are organised by agricultural and pastoral (A & P) associations. This catalogue for the 1880 Auckland show includes horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry, pigeons and dogs. To encourage scientific farming, there were also exhibits of agricultural implements and locally made goods such as saddles and wagons.
