Passenger accommodation on the Navua

In the early 1900s the Union Steam Ship Company spent lavishly on big new ‘Islands boats’. At 2,930 tons the Navua of 1908 was almost as big as a trans-Tasman liner, and could accommodate 71 saloon and 32 second-class passengers, all above decks for comfort in the tropics. Passengers could book their cabins from plans such as these at any Union Company office or agency.
