Story: Shipbuilding
Shipbuilding quickly wound down after the Second World War, although several vessels were finished for civilian use and a few new craft were to be used for relief work. This photograph shows three wooden trawlers taking shape at Mason Brothers’ Auckland yard in March 1947. The boats were for the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, and were typical of the smaller craft built after the war.
