Border Leicester, Tōtara Estate

Border Leicester, Tōtara Estate

The Border Leicester was bred in the Scottish Borders from a cross between the Cheviot and the English Leicester. Like the Cheviot, it has a Roman nose, erect ears, and bare face, head and legs. However, it is much larger and has a heavier fleece. The Border Leicester is one of the most fertile of the British breeds.
