Story: Seabirds – overview
This table lists the four bird orders to which New Zealand’s seabird species belong. It shows the number of seabird species that occur in New Zealand (including the Kermadec, Chatham and subantarctic islands) and worldwide. Some of these orders also include birds that are not seabirds, such as some shag species that feed in fresh water. These are not included in the table.
