Story: Scots

Waipū dairy factory (4th of 6)

Waipū dairy factory

Many of the Scottish pioneers of Waipū took up land and founded farming families which remained in the district for many decades. Dairying became a common farming pursuit and by 1916 Waipū, like many other rural settlements in the north, had a dairy factory to which local farmers brought their milk and cream by cart.
