Promoting fibreglass
During the 1970s new materials allowed people to build speedy and comparatively cheap yachts. One was the H28, originally designed in wood as a comfortable cruising yacht by American designer L. Francis Herreshoff. It was then adapted for fibreglass in 1972 by Compass Yachts Ltd. Over the next 20 years some 350 fibreglass H28s were produced, many of them completed by their owners.
