Fording a river (3rd of 3)

Fording a river

A ford across the shallowest part of a river was sometimes the only route to the other side. Artist Christopher Aubrey depicts a horse-drawn wagon crossing a ford in Jacob’s River (now known as the Aparima River), near Wrey’s Bush, Southland, in 1887. A lone rider shows the way.
