Bog pine in Fiordland

The Wilderness Scientific Reserve in Fiordland National Park protects New Zealand’s best surviving remnant of bog pine (Halocarpus bidwillii). Scientific reserves protect plant or animal groupings, as well as soils and landforms. They emphasise scientific research and education.
