Image-making: Embroidery of 'Mickey' Savage

Some New Zealanders revered ‘Mickey’ Savage even before his death. In 1939 in a private act of devotion, H. M. Watkins from Picton embroidered this version of the official photograph, adding a patriotic fern for good measure.
