The Viaduct Basin
Ports have become places for sophisticated urban recreation in Wellington and Auckland. In Auckland the Viaduct Basin was rapidly transformed as the centre for the America's Cup yacht race. In 2005 when this photo was taken, the cup had been lost, but the basin remained a place of chic restaurants and luxury yachts.
