Sarah Andrews, her mother, Gillian Maunsell, and Rena Fellinghan cut the cake to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Hansells, a Masterton firm well-known for its flavour essences. Gillian Maunsell married John Maunsell, who had inherited the firm from his father L. B. Maunsell. L. B. Maunsell started the firm with a local chemist, a Mr Hansen, and the two surnames were combined for Hansells. Rena Fellingham, aged 89, worked at the factory from 1936 until 1945. Many firms, schools and families continue to observe important anniversaries, especially centennials.
