A. H. McLintock is third from right in this photograph showing the hanging of paintings for the Dunedin opening of the National Centennial Exhibition of New Zealand Art in 1940. McLintock's catalogue essay for the exhibition was one of the first attempts to evaluate New Zealand's art history.
