Story: Publishing

Small publishers

Small publishers

Despite the tendency from the 1980s for international publishers to buy up local houses, a number of smaller publishers managed to survive and produce important books. Here is a collection of sigificant books about New Zealand art and history produced by some of those smaller publishers. The publishers responsible for these books are (from left): Craig Potton, Te Papa Press, David Bateman, Steele Roberts, David Ling and Bridget Williams Books.
