Susan Devoy leaves her mark

Susan Devoy leaves her mark

In 1984 a 'celebrity walk' was started at Auckland's Victoria Park markets. The following year Susan Devoy, who had just become world squash champion, was invited to leave an impression of her hands on the walk. It was an indication of her national fame at this relatively early stage in her career. She went on to win the world championship another three times. Other sportspeople whose handprints were included in the walk were runner John Walker, kayaker Ian Ferguson and mountaineer Edmund Hillary.
