There are a number of groups who re-enact New Zealand’s 19th-century wars. Shown here are members of an Armed Constabulary group. The Armed Constabulary was New Zealand’s standing military force from 1867 until 1877. Its members included Pākehā and Māori. They sometimes wore kilts for ease of movement through the trackless bush of the central North Island.
