Posed cricket photograph

Posed cricket photograph

This image appears to show a bowler about to deliver a ball during a cricket match in Picton in the late 1870s or early 1880s. At the time any such photograph would be taken using bulky glass plates and would require the players to remain still for several seconds, so it is likely that this photograph was posed, rather than being a real action shot.
