Zwines

Zwines

Zwines, seen here probably in the late 1970s or early 1980s, was at the heart of Auckland’s punk scene. The crowd were as ready to heckle a band as cheer; fights sometimes broke out and missiles flew. Some bands that played at the club (which was hidden behind a larger disco club called Babes) were not welcome at other venues – they attracted under-age drinkers, the police, and, in some cases, thugs.
