Poutō, Kaipara Harbour heads

Māhuhu-ki-te-rangi is the main canoe of Ngāti Whātua. Southern tribes say that the canoe landed in Kaipara Harbour and that the captain, Rongomai, was drowned on the northern side of the harbour entrance which is pictured here.
