Tūhoe festival

Tūhoe festival

Every two years the Ngāi Tūhoe tribe holds a festival called Te Hui Ahurei. This draws many urban members back to the tribal area to renew their ties and enjoy cultural and sporting activities. In this photograph, members of an Auckland-based Tūhoe group, Te Tira Hōu, perform at the 2003 Hui Ahurei at Rūātoki.
