Story: Families: a history

Fathers and sons, 1962

Fathers and sons, 1962

Fathers in the 1950s and 1960s were expected to pass on outdoor skills to their children. This might involve taking them camping, attending sports games and providing advice, or sharing their passions for activities like fishing. This father shows a group of boys how to prepare fishing tackle during a family holiday at Hahei on the Coromandel Peninsula in January 1962.
