In 1975 Hone Tuwhare took part in an influential Student Arts Council tour of New Zealand with three other poets, visiting 45 schools and 20 tertiary institutions and giving 13 public performances. There were capacity audiences at many places, and Tuwhare in particular was popular and well-reviewed. The poets included the veteran journalist, writer and poet Denis Glover, and he and Tuwhare were interviewed by the Evening Post when they passed through Wellington in April 1975.
