Story: Ngāti Apa

Te Horotaraipi

Te Horotaraipi

The Te Horotaraipi meeting house is situated at Tini Waitara marae on the Turakina River, and dates back to the late 19th century. Although its full name, Te Horotaraipi o Ngāti Apa, means ‘the whole tribe of Ngāti Apa’, today the marae and meeting house are administered and maintained by several families of the Ngā Ariki sub-tribe.
