Travel insurance

Travel insurance can cover a very wide range of risks. Rupert Moore of Auckland is seen here with his mother Fran who insisted on buying travel insurance before he went backpacking in Thailand in 2008. On the island of Koh Phangan he developed coral poisoning in his foot. Doctors in Bangkok would only operate after they knew he was insured. If left untreated he could have died.
